the bed-edge sit
This one comes last in the day, on the edge of the bed — the day's final upright minute. Feet on the floor. Hands loose.
Breathe in slowly while you count four.
Rest at the top — about a heartbeat and a half.
Let the breath out for a count of six, and let the day leave with it. Not all of it will go. Enough will.
Settle for a small moment before the next.
One round. Take three.
Then lie down. Whatever is unfinished has agreed to wait for morning; it always does.
