the one-face sit
Somewhere in your phone is a friend you have not called in months, and the friendship is intact anyway. That is the face for tonight.
Bring it to mind and hold it lightly. Breathe in through the nose for a count of four. Rest a moment at the top. Out for a slow count of six — and with each out-breath, one old phrase, said inwardly: may you be well. Settle, then again.
Three rounds, one face, three quiet wishes.
Nothing needs to be sent afterwards. Maitrī practiced inwardly is already complete — though it does have a way of reaching for the phone on its own, and today of all days you may let it. Either way, you can stop here.
