the somwar sit
A Shravan Monday deserves a Monday sit. Somewhere in this evening — after the fast opens, if your house keeps one — sit where you are and take the mountain's posture: nothing to reach, nothing to check, just seated weight.
Breathe in through the nose for a count of four.
Rest at the top, a heartbeat and a half.
Out for a slow count of six — and while the breath leaves, let attention rest on exactly one thing: the sound of the fan, the weight of your hands, the rain if it is at the window. One thing, held gently, the way the mountain holds its one shape.
Settle, then again. Three rounds.
The mind will wander off its one thing; that is not failure, that is the exercise revealing itself. Walk it back without scolding, the way you would walk a toddler back from the gate. You can stop here.
