tonight's question — who do you tell first
At the table, once the first hunger has settled — when something good happens to you, who do you want to tell first?
The answers are a map of harbours. A parent, a grandmother, a best friend, the dog. Do not rank them, and do not campaign for a higher position on the list. If a ten-year-old says their friend's name before yours, that is not a demotion; that is called growing, and it means the harbour system is working.
Answer it yourself, honestly. Your own first-teller may live in another city now, or another time. Saying so is allowed.
Then let the map rest. It redraws itself every few years, and tonight you saw this year's edition. That is plenty.
